Completely addicted to food and fortunate enough to be able to incorporate it into my studies, I decided that it wouldn't be such a terrible idea to share my amazing food experiences with the world! Okay, maybe not the world, but at least to give those around me the opportunity to keep up with my food adventures.
Currently, I'm a PhD student in Marketing focusing on the emotions related to the consumption of food products. That means that every act of eating and drinking, chatting up purveyors, meeting restaurant chefs, making friends, visiting new stores, is what I would consider research. I'm a big believer that we are because we eat and so every aspect that relates to food is fair game in my quest for knowledge. If it's trends, nutrition information, a seminal author, a new restaurant, a fancy kitchen appliance, I will try to learn more about it. Curiosity has no bounds for this foodie...
It all started when I realized that my friends were becoming increasingly interested in my food-related experiences. What was the name of the new restaurant that opened? What wine would you recommend for this type of meal and/or person? Where can I find ___ (fill in the blank). So in June 2007, I published my first newsletter for my friends - A Palatable Report. The interest grew so fast and the next questions I started fielding were: What do you do for a living? What is your web site? So here we are.
By no means do I pretend or consider myself to be an expert in the field. Rather, I would like to use this as a forum to share my epicurean journey. It's like my own personal soap box, except in this case, it would have to be a wine crate! It's a means for me to pass on the things that I learn, the discoveries that I make, the people I meet; essentially, all the things that make me happy.
