Okay, so I have to be honest and admit that it wouldn't really be my blog if I didn't reserve one area for my "opinions" and "rants". Essentially this is the wine crate I stand on to pronounce my views on current food-related issues, news items and other aspects I find worthy of discussion.

Sometimes it's just too easy... So you named your restaurant "Incongruent" and now it's closed. What did you expect would happen? The word congruency means when all elements are in harmony and appropriate. Name your restaurant the opposite of this and here are some associations I would assume clients might make pertaining to your establishment:

  • Decor doesn't match service
  • Service doesn't match food
  • Food doesn't match wine/drink
  • Wine/drink doesn't match budget
  • Budget doesn't match image
  • Customers don't know they ever came here
  • Potential customers don't even bother...

So what are we doing here: Italian cuisine or are we theater specialists? Or is the Italian Cuisine served here a form of theater?... I hope it's not a fatal drama...

Oh yes, there are some mornings when I wish beer was the breakfast special. Clearly, the guy inside is excited about the prospect as well, seeing as how he has parked on the sidewalk... This gives a whole new definition to "happy hour".

It’s not surprising that this place closed down. Perhaps it’s because I’m French Canadian, but that reads Marché Croté or dirty market to me when I drive by quickly… Yes, signage quality is often lost in translation...

I'm not so sure that Nature should ever touch anything that has the words jumbo on it...  These "strawberries" are sold in our province, in the middle of the summer when we have our own tasty crop as well as all year round, are imported from Chili, and are prepared (?) by a company in Quebec that has the word frozen in it's corporate name.
